UNIT 2 LIBRARY
The item I chose from Bird Library is a book I found on the fourth floor titled Going Broke - Why Americans (Still) Can't Get Hold on to Their Money, written by Stuart Vyse in 2007. My relationship with the library has varied throughout my almost two full years here. To explain, I spent the most time at the library my freshman year because I was new on campus and was not really aware of any other study spots yet. In addition, as a freshman, Bird Library was almost just as much as a social scene as it was a study spot and students would always go there in groups to study together and make more friends. Now as a sophomore, I prefer a more quiet and private study place such as a team room in the Whitman School of Management, especially since my majors are in this school. Technology definitely has an influence on my relationship with the brick-and-mortar library because it provides us easy access to most things we can find in the library, but instead its right at our fingertips. Nowadays, students would much rather access a book or online database than hike to the library in the cold and snowy Syracuse climate. In addition, locating a book in a library that houses thousands of them can be difficult and time consuming. Most students that I know, including myself, do not regularly check out books from the library and therefore get overwhelmed by even the thought of it.

I enjoy your pictures, it really adds to the blog! Also, your format is done correctly, nothing needs to be fixed! - Juliana P
ReplyDeleteHi Remi! I really liked learning about how you interacted with this book in your home and wha the library means to you. Also, the format is great because you included pictures and clearly labeled the post. - Emily Rispoli
