Graphic Novels
After our trip to Bird Library, I checked out a graphic novel titled "Sunny Side Down: A Collection of Tales of Mere Existence" by Lev Yilmaz. Throughout this graphic novel, the author explains the story of his life, starting from the day he was conceived, in the form of cartoon-like pictures. However, on some pages there is a decent amount of words, but he formats it in a way that is simple and appealing to readers and uses large fonts. As I was reading through this graphic novel, there were a few parts that caught my eye more than the others. For example, I came across a specific graphic regarding our topic in technology where the author is describing his childhood fears and includes the fear of the idea that "your eyeballs can become glued to the T.V." This made me laugh because it is very relatable because most people in today's society are addicted to technology and would much rather watch something on television than read a book or something else that actually requires effort. As a child, my parents and grandparents would even make similar jokes about how frequently we engage with technology. In addition to just the content relating to our topic in technology, the idea of using online programs and systems to create some of these graphics is also relevant.
